Mission Statement

Dr. Bruce Leckart and his associates provide psychological and psychiatric forensic services. Essentially, we critique psych reports written about individuals who have either claims or lawsuits alleging a psychiatric or mental health injury. Our clients typically are insurance companies and attorneys.

Dr. Bruce Leckart is a widely-published researcher, author and university professor who has been reviewing medical-legal psych reports for over 35 years. He is firmly dedicated to eradicating poorly-written psych reports and helping attorneys win their psych cases by writing Apricots™.  For the last thirty plus years, Dr. Leckart has read and critiqued about 50,000 psych reports.

Dr. Leckart contributed the content for the best selling book called When I Say No, I Feel Guilty and subsequently authored the popular psych book, Up from Boredom, Down from Fear.  Dr. Leckart’s most recent book, Psychological Evaluations in Litigation:  A Practical Guide for Attorneys and Insurance Adjusters, was first published in 2008 and is available for download below. Dr. Leckart is currently a consultant and an expert witness.

Dr. Leckart is a product of the New York City public school system where he graduated high school at the age of 16 and attended Michigan State University, where he eventually earned his Ph.D. He became a professor at Ohio University and then the youngest full professor in the country at the time, at San Diego State University, publishing more than 30 articles in refereed professional journals about a variety of topics.

Dr. Heredia teaches a variety of psychology courses at East Los Angeles College:  General Psychology, Lifespan Psychology, Child Psychology and Psychological Aspects of Human Sexuality. He is the Chief Operating Officer at Westwood Evaluation & Treatment Center, Bruce Leckart, Ph.D., a mental health facility that provides Apricots™ in workers’ compensation and personal injury litigation. An Apricot™ is a work product privileged report that is used by attorneys to help them take depositions and/or trial testimony or file briefs. An Apricot™ describes a psych report’s flaws in jargon-free language; discusses specific techniques to Cx the doctor; and provides multiple simple questions that get those flaws on the record despite the doctor’s resistant behavior.

Dr. Heredia earned a B.A. in psychology from UCLA, an M.A. in Education with a concentration in psychology from Pepperdine University and a doctorate from Pepperdine University Graduate School of Education and Psychology. He has authored multiple academic papers presented at conferences including meetings of the American Educational Research Association and guest lectured an undergraduate education course at UCLA.

In his spare time, he serves as Director of the Board for the Inland Empire Future Leaders Program, an educational non-profit organization devoted to leadership and the educational success for high school students in San Bernardino, Riverside and Los Angeles counties.

Michelle Piovan

Ms. Michelle Piovan joined the team in 2014. Michelle attended college and graduated with a degree in English Literature from Pepperdine University. Michelle is a public relations specialist. She also provides invaluable writing and proof reading contributions. Additionally, she is well-versed with information about our services and can help our clients with the scheduling of Apricots™, phone consultations, CE educational trainings, and trial testimony. In her spare time, Michelle enjoys attempting new culinary experiments, hiking and reading.
